Rapes in care for the elderly are investigated after UNT’s review – another user exposed

Right now, police investigations are underway into two cases of rape in elderly care. UNT met one of the victims – an 84-year-old woman who was subjected to abuse and rape in her home during home care visits. During Friday evening, a press conference was held with the municipality, where it emerged that another user had allegedly been raped by the same man.

An employee must also have been subjected to sexual harassment by another employee.

The incidents have been reported to the police and the municipality is in daily contact with the police regarding what happened.

“Must secure all users”

Lenita Granlund, administrative director for the health and care administration, and Rasmus Sundström, department head for elderly care, attended the press conference on Friday evening.

– It is a big crisis. Now we have to keep all users safe, all our employees now get information to take with them to the elderly. We have managers on standby all weekend, says Lenita Granlund.

Going forward, the municipality must take precautions in recruitment and continue to be careful with background checks on new hires.
