The Court of Appeal significantly reduces the sentence for a man in his 35s who was convicted of raping his daughter. The man was sentenced to eight years in prison by Gävle District Court, he was convicted of, among other things, four cases of rape of a child.
But the Court of Appeal makes a different assessment of the value of the sentence and reduces the sentence to imprisonment for four years and six months. The damages that the man must pay are also reduced, from SEK 720,000 to SEK 665,000, writes Gefle Dagblad.
According to the Court of Appeal, the current practice at the first judgment was not followed. Among other things, the court refers to a previous case where a man for several years subjected his daughter to aggravated rape and was sentenced to six years in prison.
