In his family’s village, Körkün, near Gaziantep, the damage was relatively minor. Seven houses and the mosque had collapsed, but fortunately there were no fatalities. But there too, villagers still live in containers and have stored their things with others for so long, for example Cildir’s father in the storage space of his shop. Cildir has been back three times since the earthquake, the last time about four months ago. “They are now hopeful in the village, but further down in Hatay, they are not going to forget this.”
