Ram Rodeo returns to Norfolk this weekend

Fred Eaglesmith and The New Band in concert on Friday night

Bull riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing and more are on the card as the Ram Rodeo Tour returns to Norfolk County on the weekend.

The rodeo will be held July 16 and July 17 at Timmermans Ranch near Simcoe.

A concert featuring Fred Eaglesmith and The New Band will open the weekend at the ranch with a concert on Friday, July 15 at 7 pm with gates open at 5:30.

This will be the fifth year that ranch owners Mike and Krista Timmermans will play host to the event. The Norfolk Ram Rodeo was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Krista Timmermans said about 5,000 guests attended the rodeo in 2019 and she hopes for the same number this year.

“The Ram Rodeo Tour is a fun, family event, something for everyone and there’s always something different to see,” said Timmermans. “We’re so excited to be able to bring it back and have the community come back together.”

Live music, food, vendors, merchandise, kids’ rodeo, sheep scrambles and inflatables will all be included in the event’s festivities.

Old Twenty-Four Band, featuring Genevieve Fisher, will perform on Saturday night.

The rodeo, held at 2454 Nixon Road, will begin at 2 pm both days with gates open at 11 am

Advance tickets are available for purchase online and will cost $25 for individuals 13 and over, $15 for youth and seniors 65 and over. Admission is free for children ages three and under. Tickets at the door will be charged $30 for adults and $20 for youth and seniors.

Tickets are also available in-person at Demeyere Chrysler in Simcoe.

Tickets for the Fred Eaglesmith and The New Band concert are $40 in advance on Eventbrite and $50 at the gate. Gates close at 10 p.m.
