Ram 1500 REV introduced with 800 KM range and 229kWh

Ram’s involvement in the 100% electric pickup truck wars is finally official today, as the brand’s response to Ford’s F-150 Lightning.

The Ram 1500 REV, with its incredibly large 229 kWh battery, targets a range of 804 km on a single charge. There’s also a “small” battery option, which is more than double what most electric vehicles offer at 168 kWh. This is expected to offer a range of “only” 563 km. But keep reading, there’s more.

If you can somehow find a 350 kW DC charger, you can go 177 km in just 10 minutes. If you’re wondering about performance, the Ram targets a 0-100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds with 654 hp and 922 nm of torque.

The truck has dual 250 kW electric drive modules (EDM), which combines the engine, transmission and inverter and is therefore all-wheel drive. The front axle EDM has automatic wheel tip separation that allows the front wheels to turn freely under certain conditions, while the rear axle has an electronic locking differential, which is a must-have in this type of pickup truck.

The Ram 1500 REV has a maximum towing capacity of 6,350 kg and a maximum payload of 1,224 kg. The truck has bidirectional charging support from vehicle to vehicle, vehicle to home and vehicle to grid, with an onboard power panel providing 7.2 kW at the front and an onboard power panel providing 3.6 kW at the body.

The truck is built on the all-new STLA Frame designed for full-size EVs with body-on-chassis designs. STLA Frame is wider in the middle to efficiently assemble the battery pack. The Ram 1500 REV is said to be the “lowest drag truck in the segment” with a drag coefficient of 0.34.

The EV comes with standard, active-level four-corner air suspension with adaptive raising and lowering. It has a built-in Hands-Free Active Driving Assistant and an automatic parking system.

Body capacity is 0.42 cubic meters, and inside there is a 14.5-inch center touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch passenger screen, digital rearview mirror, head-up display and Klipsch audio system. The passenger screen is only visible to the passenger and offers three main functions: Co-Pilot (navigation, device management), entertainment (via HDMI), and the ability to view the vehicle’s exterior cameras. There is an HDMI plug to connect a phone or tablet, turning the display into a mirrored extension of said device.

Since the Ram 1500 REV is named the 2025 model year, we don’t expect to see any units on the market before 2024 and most likely late 2024.
