Since January 3, 2022 and for 3 weeks, the gauges have been restored for major events: 2,000 people indoors, 5,000 people outdoors. Standing concerts are prohibited. In cafes and bars, drinking while standing is prohibited. But also in certain places such as cinemas, theaters, sports facilities, public transport (including long distance). More than ever, barrier gestures and the rules of distancing must be respected in this period of epidemic recovery. What about private gatherings at home? Family ? How many people maximum? And at restaurant ? In a bar ? A festival ? At the movie theater ? At job ? Private and family meetings, weddings, birthdays, in a park, in a cemetery for a funeral … The rules in force.
What rule for an outdoor gathering?
Gatherings in public spaces are not more limited in number of people since June 30, 2021. For big events, the tonnage is 5,000 people. Barrier measures and physical distancing must however continue to be scrupulously observed. The prefects keep the possibility of closing off access to certain sites suitable for outdoor festive gatherings and to ban certain gatherings or demonstrations in public spaces, when their organizational conditions create a real health risk.
What rule for a private gathering?
Indoor gatherings are not prohibited. The government has not announced a gauge. No maximum number “at 6 or 8” but from “common sense” Jean Castex clarified on December 17 before specifying: “The fewer there are, the less risk we take, let’s avoid big parties, big gatherings or big dinners.”
How many people for a funeral?
The funeral ceremonies in places of worship (church, mosque, etc.) are not limited in number of participants on condition of leaving 1 free seat between each person or family entity. The ceremonies organized in cemeteries are allowed without gauge limit since June 30, 2021.
How many people in a concert?
For large concert-type events, the gauge is set at 2,000 people indoors and 5,000 outdoors. Standing concerts are prohibited.
What about corporate gatherings?
There is no gauge defined by the Ministry of Labor. Nevertheless, the responsible employer or operator can define a “gauge” specifying the number of people who can be present simultaneously in the same confined space (employees, customers, service providers, suppliers, etc.) in compliance with the rules of physical distancing and wearing of a mask, specifies the health protocol updated on November 29, 2021. It can be retained, as an indication, a parameterization of the gauge at 4 m2 per person to ensure a distance of at least one meter around each person in all directions. The moments of conviviality (departure drinks, seminars, etc.) bringing together face-to-face employees in a professional setting are not recommended. The moments of conviviality, if they take place, must be done in strict compliance with barrier gestures, in particular the wearing a mask, measures ventilation/ ventilation and two-meter distance rules when the mask is removed.
How many people for a demonstration?
The organization of “protest demonstrations” on public roads remains authorized, provided that they are declared to the prefecture. The limitation of gatherings in public space does not apply for demonstrations.
