Rakhmat Akilov made a bracelet in prison – then he was accused of misconduct.
He wrote “fuck Putin” on the jewelry.
Akilov says in questioning that it is the same as “fuck cancer”.
Rakhmat Akilov is serving his sentence at the high-security prison Saltvik in Härnösand after the terrorist attack on Drottinggatan in 2017.
Now he has been accused of misconduct, according to a report from the Correctional Service that Aftonbladet has seen.
On December 16, the inmates were given permission to make bracelets “to, for example, send home to relatives for a pro-social purpose”, the Correctional Service writes in its report, which also the news agency Siren and The newspaper Ångermanland reported on.
“It was wrong”
When Akilov finished one of his bracelets, he showed it to the staff.
He had written “fuck Putin” on the jewelry.
“When the staff deems it inappropriate text, they search the wristband,” writes Kriminalvården.
A few days later, an interrogation was held with Akilov where he had to explain why he had written like that.
“In the interrogation, Rakhmat Akilov states that he thinks the text ‘fuck cancer’ and ‘fuck Putin’ are the same thing, but that it was wrong and should not be repeated,” the report states.
Don’t be warned
The correctional service has decided whether he was guilty of misconduct and whether, in that case, he should receive a warning. The prison service does not believe that Akilov’s text is in line with the purpose, to send home bracelets to relatives for a “prosocial purpose”.
But he escapes warning.
“Based on a combined assessment, the Saltvik prison finds that it has not been proven that Rakhmat Akilov has been guilty of misconduct by not following the regulations and conditions that apply to the enforcement”.
