When SMHI publishes weather statistics for July 2023, it is confirmed that the month was a record rainy one in Western Sweden. Borås has not received so much Christmas rainfall since measurements were started in 1884, and in Gothenburg not since 1939.
Mollsjönäs, which is located by Mollsjön on the border between Ale and Gothenburg municipality, became Sweden’s rainiest place during July. As much as 303.7 millimeters of rain fell here. It is the seventh largest monthly rainfall ever measured in Sweden.
