A rainfall warning is in effect for parts of Southwestern Ontario including Norfolk, Haldimand, Brant and Oxford counties.
Environment Canada forecasts total rainfall could be in the 20-45 mm range from Monday night through Tuesday morning.
“The rain will continue for several hours before tapering to showers from west to east Tuesday afternoon,” said the national weather service.
Rain is expected to be heavy at times. There is also concern because of the reduced ability of the frozen ground to absorb the precipitation.
“Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks,” said Environment Canada.
