Örnsköldsvik was the first in the county to have a Rainbow Week. Now the rest of the county has hung up and the week is coordinated via Region Västernorrland. All municipalities in the county, except Ånge, are participating this year.

In Örnsköldsvik, this year’s Rainbow Week has an extra focus on the church – and especially the free churches.

– We have found a new collaboration with the ecumenical groups for Christian LGBTQ people, says Ann-Sofe Mattebo.

SVT: Is it important that the church is involved in a week like this?

– Yes, but it is of course important that everyone should feel welcome in our churches in the municipality.

On Thursday, Robin Paulonen and Lina Mattebo, who both grew up in the Free Church in Örnsköldvik, will give a lecture about LGBTQ and the church. The Church of Sweden also started the week with a rainbow mass on Sunday and ends the week with an Advent service.
