Only rain at your place?

Hardly.

In the next few days, the skies will open up all over Sweden.

July has offered rainy summer weather in many places.

And now it will be even more.

On Sunday evening, heavy rain will move in from the southeast and move north. According to SMHI, over 70 millimeters of rain can fall in a fairly short time.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning over the whole of Götaland and eastern Svealand up to Gävle, from 18:00 on Sunday evening until early Monday morning.

During Monday and Tuesday, the rainy weather moves north. A yellow warning covers the whole of southern Norrland and northwestern Svealand from midnight on Monday until Tuesday evening.

– There can be quite a large local variation. Where the heaviest rain and showers end up is still too early to say anything about, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

“Probably Will Make It”

What can be said is that the whole country will get wet in the next few days.

– Even if it is not at warning level everywhere, it is still quite extensive, I think that stands out. There is a lot of rain affecting a large part of the entire country.

The forecast can change quickly and therefore it is good to stay up to date on the warning situation where you are.

– Somewhere the weather will probably allow it, but where or when is uncertain, says Sofia Söderberg.

In the event of a yellow warning, there is a risk that traffic will slow down due to flooded roads. Basements and storm water systems can be flooded.

– You should be aware that there is a risk that there may be a lot of rain in my area. Then it is very different how you prepare. But if, for example, you are going to close your summer cottage, it is good to be aware that there is a risk.

Red warning for high flows

A red warning has also been issued for high flows in the southwestern part of Värmland county, the northern part of Västra Götaland county and an area around Lake Vättern and southwest of Vänern.

The warning applies from midnight on Monday and means that there are extremely high current speeds in the waterways. These are flows that occur on average every 50 years or less often.
