Heavy rain has hit the Way Out West music festival in Gothenburg, where 30,000 visitors are expected on Friday.
– All the staff at the festival have worked to weatherproof and ensure that no technology is destroyed or damaged, says TV4 reporter Jonathan Nordin.
Large amounts of rain in a short time in combination with strong winds have caused chaos for the festival visitors at Way Out West in Slottsskogen in Gothenburg.
– I think the visitors were surprised. This guy who pulled in so quickly and forcefully was probably not prepared for, says Jonathan Nordin, TV4’s employee on the spot.
– During the morning, all the staff at the festival worked on weather proofing and ensuring that no technology is destroyed or damaged, he continues.
Since Friday morning, 33 millimeters of rain has fallen, of which 21 millimeters in two hours just after lunch.
Continued rain: “It’s going to be wet”
The rainy weather is expected to last for a couple of hours to a good bit during Friday afternoon and then continue during the weekend as well.
Over 30,000 visitors are expected during the afternoon.
– It will be wet for many.
But despite the weather chaos, there is a good atmosphere in the festival area, where many expectant visitors in rain gear have already started to gather.
The festival which is held annually started on Thursday and is held for three days. Fred Again, PJ Harvey, Pulp and Benjamin Ingrosso are some of the artists performing at the festival.
