Raid of The Final Shape was defeated by players nobody knows

The new raid “Edge of Salvation” from Destiny 2 was defeated after exhausting hours full of losses. If you think that well-known streamers defeated the witness, we have to disappoint you. It was a team that is rather unknown.

How long did the World First last? The contest mode of “Edge of Salvation” started on June 7th at 7 p.m. German time. Many streamers, including Nexxoss, Datto and Aztecross, fought to see who could defeat the raid first in order to take home the winner’s belt.

After 19 hours and 3 minutes, the first team reported a victory. It was Team “Parabellum”, who showed the witness what Guardians are made of. Bungie then checked the report (via x.com) and crowned the winners at 2:25 p.m. German time with congratulations on X (formerly Twitter). But what kind of team is that and how difficult was the raid? We’ll show you now.

Team “Parabellum” defeats the witness first

Do you know the team behind the victory? Surprisingly not. These are players who have often participated in day one raids but have never been able to win the winner’s belt (via raid.report). The fact that they were now able to outperform high-flyers like Saltagreppo or veterans like Datto with Edge of Salvation is astonishing.

How did the World First go? To sum it up in one word: catastrophic – for some teams, anyway. The raid had complicated mechanics in which players had to quickly destroy enemies, clear rooms and activate plates in order to then deposit various effects in chests. Many teams, including Aztecross, struggled for several hours just on the first phase of the raid.

Other teams, like Datto, had an easier time, but then got frustrated at the fourth stage, which was similar to the vault from the Last Wish raid. Saltagreppo’s team was one of the first to make it to the witness, but he didn’t let up, and the expert team struggled for over 4 hours.

What is also interesting, however, is the time it took to defeat Edge of Salvation. The Last Wish raid from Forsaken kept players busy for 18 hours and 49 minutes with its complicated mechanics and was considered the hardest day-one raid of all time. Edge of Salvation, however, was completed in 19 hours and 3 minutes. This makes the new raid from The Final Shape the toughest raid Bungie has ever created.

What happened to the witness? Since almost every streamer ended up censoring their recordings to avoid giving their opponents any tips, we cannot say what exactly happened to the witness in the raid.

According to the streamers, the 12-player activity has now been unlocked. In this activity, the Guardians must now defeat the Witness once and for all. It could be that the Witness was only seriously wounded in the raid and the Guardians now have to finish their job with or without a raid.
