Rage Against the Machine donates money to safe abortions

After the US Supreme Court on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade, the ruling that in 1973 made abortion a constitutional right, the reactions among the country’s cultural practitioners were not long in coming.

For example, the American singer Lizzo has promised to donate half a million dollars – equivalent to about five million kronor – of the proceeds from her upcoming autumn tour to the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) and the organization Planned Parenthood, which conducts activities in abortion and reproductive health, writes NME.

Also the entertainment group and concert organizer Live Nation, which organizes Lizzo’s tour, has promised to donate the same amount. This also applies to the American rap metal band Rage Against the Machine, which will donate $ 475,000 to abortion rights organizations in the states of Wisconsin and Illinois.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the band writes that they are “disgusted” with the Supreme Court’s decision and the impact it will have on the lives of millions of people.

During a concert At the Glastonbury Music Festival on Friday night, American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers took the opportunity to criticize the court with a rhyme:

“Fuck the Supreme Court!” she shouted from the stage.

Also Billie Eilish, who also played at the British festival, commented on the decision.

“Today is a really dark day for American women,” she said during her concert.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift turned to Twitter to express her feelings. “I’m really terrified that this is where we are,” she wrote on the platformwhere she also shared a post by Michelle Obama.
