Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz at the Olympics: already back, at what time and on which channel to follow the quarter-final?

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz at the Olympics already back

NADAL ALCARAZ. After a tight second round on Tuesday evening, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are already back on the Philippe-Chatrier court at Roland-Garros this Wednesday for the quarter-final of the doubles tournament.

After setting Roland-Garros alight on Tuesday evening, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will already be back on clay this Wednesday evening for the quarter-finals of the doubles tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The two Spaniards passed the obstacle set in the round of 16 on Tuesday evening but had to go all the way in the super tie-break (6-4, 6-7, 10-2) to eliminate the Dutch pair Griekspoor – Koolhof.

No respite for all that since the quarter-final arrives this Wednesday evening! The match will take place on the Philippe-Chatrier court that both men know so well, Nadal for having won 14 times in the Roland-Garros final, Alcaraz for having won the famous Parisian Grand Slam there for the first time last May.

For this quarter-final of the Olympic doubles tournament, Alcaraz and Nadal will face the American pair of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram, seeded number 4 in this tournament. The two Americans have been impressive since the start of the Olympic tournament, like the 2nd round against the Australian pair Popyrin – De Minaur, beaten in two straight sets (6-2, 6-3). The first round had been a bit more tight against the Brazilians Monteiro – Seyboth Wild (6-4, 7-6).

Ram is an excellent doubles specialist, a specialty where he has won four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open 2020 then US Open in 2021, 2022 and 2023) without clay being his preferred surface. Conversely, Austin Krajicek won Roland-Garros in doubles in 2023, partnering Croatian Ivan Dodig.

This match therefore has all the makings of a big test for Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal as a victory would move them closer to an Olympic medal by entering the last four. The match is scheduled to open the evening session at 7 p.m. on the Philippe-Chatrier court. This doubles match will be broadcast on Eurosport (or Max) and on France Télévisions, probably via streaming for the entire match, and on France 2 or France 3 for regular updates on the match.
