RAF pensioners hunted in Berlin

The operation is linked to the hunt for Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, members of the notorious Baader-Meinhof gang, the police spokesperson confirms Martin Halweg for the magazine Picture.

There are also reports of the sound of gunshots during the morning. It may also have been about other explosions, according to the police.

The Baader Meinhof League, or actually the Red Army Faction (RAF), terrorized West Germany in the 1970s and 80s, with bombings, kidnappings and over 30 murders of high-profile politicians and business leaders.

The 66-year-old was arrested on Monday evening Daniela Kletteone of the RAF’s members, in Berlin after being wanted for 30 years.

After the organization’s dissolution in 1998, she went underground with Staub and Garweg. The trio has been called the “RAF pensioners” in the German media.
