After radioactive radiation was measured on board a museum ship in Karlskrona, it is closed to both staff and visitors. The discovery has been made on board the minesweeper HMS Bremön at the Marine Museum, reports Aftonbladet.

A protective shutdown has been introduced, but so far it is unclear how strong the radiation is.

– We are waiting for more accurate measurements before we can comment, says Britt-Marie Rolén at the Radiation Safety Authority to the newspaper.

The measurements, which yielded results at four places on board, were made in January after similar findings were made on board a museum ship in Gothenburg. More accurate measurements will now be carried out by the Swedish Armed Forces.

Johan Löfgren, head of the collection unit at the Marine Museum in Karlskrona, emphasizes that there was only a rash when you got close to the four points with the meter. But he cannot comment on whether these are dangerous levels.
