The first day of Wimbledon was going to be a long one for the visitors who wanted to watch tennis on Monday.
Thousands of people queued outside the arena and some had to wait up to 10 hours to enter.
— There was no water, nowhere to sit, it was the longest queue, says a visitor to Sky.
In an attempt to stop any protests from the climate activist group “Just Stop Oil”, tighter security measures have been implemented for visitors, something described as the main reason for the long queues.
The organizer has apologized for the delays, which they blamed on the new security measures.
— Queue entry has been slower than previous years as a result of these controls. We thank the guests in the queue for their patience and understanding, says a spokesperson for Wimbledon according to Sky.
