Cult director Quentin Tarantino is known for strong preferences and dislikes compared to other films and series. One of these dislikes concerns Of all things, a series that is hardly an integral part of children’s television.
Tarantino has problems with Scooby-Doo
The director’s rejection is directed against the fan favorite Scooby Doo, where are you?
The cartoon series is a mixture of mystery, horror and comedy. The four young people Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley and Norville “Shaggy” Rogers drive around in their van, the Mystery Machine, to solve uncanny puzzles. You will be accompanied by your talking dog Scooby-Doo.
The series has existed in different adaptations since 1969 and was regularly broadcast on Saturday morning in Tarantino’s childhood. According to his own statement, the director scooby-do saw, where are you? directly in the first broadcast.

Tarantino found Scooby-Doo “stupid”
Tarantino’s reaction was not exactly enthusiastic, as he revealed in an interview with Yester there in 2007 (via Far Out). In it he was asked about his favorite children’s cartoon series and first he replied with the one he liked the least:
I thought it was a stupid show. I remember how I saw the first episode of Scooby-Doo, the first season, so to speak. I said, ‘What the hell is that?’ I never liked the puzzles. I always thought it was stupid.
The constant repetitions also got on his nerves, as he revealed Yerster Dayland at the time.
As he emphasized himself:
My aversion to Scooby-Doo was a big deal.
Tarantino also answered the actual question. As a child, he liked the HR Pufnstuft puppet series and the animated adventures from the pink panther.

Meanwhile, the Scooby-Do is still celebrating two real films through numerous new editions in cartoon format, video, nintendo and board games, comics and specially created toys. At IMDB, the series was able to secure a stable assessment of 7.9.
It wasn’t until 2020 with Scoob! A reboot fully wasted out. A new, satirical cartoon series entitled Scooby-Doo, Where Are You Now! appeared in 2021 by the US broadcaster The CW.
It looks like many fans are by no means sharing Tarantino’s aversion to the children’s series. On the contrary: to this day, the Scooby Doo franchise has an active fan community.
