Add garlic without your toilet? Surprising, no? And yet, this method is really effective for cleaning and disinfecting your toilets.
When it comes to cleaning toilets, we’re always keen on tips that make our lives easier and don’t cost much. It is sometimes surprising to discover that simple and inexpensive ingredients, which we all have at home, can offer spectacular results. This is the case for example with garlic. We would never have suspected it, and yet it is really effective when it comes to toilet maintenance.
Garlic, often associated with cooking for its aromatic properties and health benefits, can also be a powerful ally for household cleaning, especially in the bathroom and toilet. Known for its anti-bacterial and antifungal properties, garlic has all the characteristics to be an effective cleaning agent, ideal for eliminating germs and bacteria present in toilets.
The method for cleaning your toilet with garlic is simple and requires no additional ingredients. Here are the steps to follow. Take one or more large cloves of garlic and remove the membrane that surrounds them, then cut them. Then, crush them to release the allicin in the garlic. It is allicin which has antibacterial properties. To crush them, do not hesitate to use a garlic press.
Once you have your garlic paste, apply it liberally to the inside walls of the toilet bowl, but also to the bottom of the bowl. Make sure to cover all areas, including under the rim and around the edge. Leave it on ideally overnight. During this time, the antibacterial properties of garlic will work to eliminate germs, stains and unwanted odors. After letting the garlic work, use a toilet brush to vigorously scrub the sides of the bowl. Flush the toilet to remove any garlic residue and reveal a sparkling, fresh toilet.
For greater effectiveness, you can add 2 to 3 spoons of baking soda and citric acid to the bottom of your toilet. You will naturally obtain clean and disinfected toilets. This technique effectively fights bacteria and germs in toilets, helping to maintain a clean and hygienic environment in your bathroom.
