According to the news of the Daily Star; In a speech on April 12, Putin mentioned that the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos must successfully face the challenges of space exploration. For this, Putin claimed that they will develop a new generation spaceship, as well as new nuclear space technology. Putin also noted that they plan to send an unmanned spacecraft to the Moon this year.
Luna 25, a lunar landing mission planned by Roscosmos, was originally scheduled for 2016 but was delayed to 2018 and then to 2021.
DECIDED TO END THE COOPERATION
Putin’s ambitious plans came shortly after Russia announced that it had decided to end cooperation on the International Space Station (ISS).
The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, announced that a timeline for the completion of existing projects will soon be submitted to the Kremlin.
This move was thought to be a major blow to the future of space exploration.
The space station needs ongoing maintenance to maintain its stability in orbit and may need to be decommissioned much earlier than planned without Russian input.
