President Zelensky’s speech and information about the delivery of the Patriot air defense system met with expected reactions in the Kremlin.
Russian President Putin said the Russian military will find “an antidote” to the Patriot air defense system.
– This only prolongs the war, Putin told reporters in Moscow, according to the AFP news agency.
Putin also claimed that Russia is willing to “end the conflict in Ukraine” as soon as possible, Russian news agency Interfax reported, without elaborating on any Russian commitments.
Ukrainian appeal
Zelenskyy pointed out in his speech that the support of the United States is necessary for Ukraine to win the war.
– We have artillery, yes thank you very much. Is it enough? No, not really, said Zelensky, who gave his speech in English.
The president described to the American elected representatives how the Ukrainians keep their courage up despite the war and how a victory over Russia is not only about Ukraine’s survival, but is also important for the United States and the rest of the world.
