The Kremlin describes the conversation as “a thorough exchange of views on Ukrainian issues”, reports AFP.
Among other things, Putin is said to have said that Ukraine has adopted a “destructive” position that excludes a peace agreement.
According to the Kremlin, the conversation was held at Hungary’s request, and Orbán reportedly expressed interest in helping to find “political-diplomatic ways to resolve the crisis.”
Orbán met US President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago earlier this week.
