The special school is a form of school for students with intellectual disabilities. Last spring, it was discovered that one of the special school students in Mjölby did not have this diagnosis. However, the municipality’s psychologist had come to the conclusion in 2016.
The municipality offered new investigations for other students who were investigated by the same psychologist. From the investigations carried out so far, it appears that six students received an incorrect diagnosis.
— This does not feel good at all. We carry this with us – how do we solve this to compensate and enable a good future life for these children, says Christer Lordh, Mjölby municipality’s head of education, to the radio channel.
The municipality already last year reported the psychologist, who is no longer working, to the Care and Care Inspectorate (Ivo) for lack of documentation. But according to Christer Lordh, the municipality had not been able to detect the incorrect diagnoses earlier.
Individual plans are drawn up for students who attended the wrong school system so that they can make up for the education they did not receive.
