Grand opening celebrations for playgrounds at Mohawk and Orchard parks will be held on June. 4.
The City of Brantford, in partnership with East Ward Place Neighborhood Association, will host the events at Mohawk Park, located at 51 Lynnwood Dr., from 11 am to 2 pm, and Orchard Park, located at 29 Brisbane Blvd., from 2 pm to 4 p.m.
Both events are free and include a chance to win prizes. There will be inflatable games, entertainment, a visit by Marco the Clown, marketplace vendors, pizza and cake and ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
Mohawk Park features new playground equipment, including swings with accessible rubber surfacing, musical play components, a hill slide, extra-large climbers, a sand play area, asphalt pathways and fully-accessible play equipment. The ribbon cutting will be done at 11 am
Orchard Park has new junior equipment designed for children aged two to five and senior equipment for those aged five to 12, along with swings, a sand play area and asphalt pathways. The ribbon cutting is at 3 pm
