Those who wish to set off fireworks outside of the two specified holidays must submit an application to be reviewed and approved by fire department personnel.
Both municipalities stipulate that fireworks are to be discharged on your own private property, or with written permission of the property owner, and only in an open area clear of combustibles and obstacles.
Debris or fallout from fireworks are to land on your own property, and users are to have a fire extinguisher or bucket of water handy to put out a fire quickly.
Fireworks should not be set off in windy conditions, and manufacturer’s safety instructions should be followed.
Fireworks that did not go off should never be re-lit, and people are advised to wait at least 30 minutes before approaching a dud firework.
