Justice believes that an escalated conflict was the reason for the kidnapping. The conflict arose after an armed robbery in a house on Minervaplein in Amsterdam South, in which an amount of 200,000 euros was stolen on December 18, 2022. The later kidnap victim was present in the home with a friend at the time of the robbery. The kidnappers accused him of making money from the home invasion.
