In a report prepared by city staff and a consultant, property beside the civic center on Market Street emerged as the top choice for a new facility based on a review of parking, pedestrian safety, planning developments, timing and economic impact.
City council voted in favor last month of launching a campaign to get public input on the project.
A public meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 18 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Bulldogs Lounge (former civic center auditorium) at the Brantford Civic Centre, 79 Market St. South. The public can also give feedback at letstalkbrantford.ca/SEC

“The campaign will guide the city in tailoring the potential sports and entertainment center’s features and offerings to best meet the needs and desires of our diverse community,” said the release. “From preferences on amenities and facility uses to concerns and preferred modes of involvement in the development process, every response counts.”
Developing a proposal for a new facility is part of the deal the city struck with the former Hamilton Bulldogs to bring the OHL team to Brantford. The team, now the Brantford Bulldogs, play their home games in the recently refurbished civic centre.
The estimated cost of a new facility is $115-140 million, excluding the cost of parking and site development, and would have a seating capacity of 5,300.
“As we embark on this journey to shape the future of a sports and entertainment center in Brantford, we invite every resident to join us in this important conversation,” said Mayor Kevin Davis. “Your input is the cornerstone of our vision and, together, we’ll work to create a vibrant space that truly represents our community.”
