In Burkina Faso, the audit of public administration, announced by President Paul Henri Damiba, has started. 140 structures are affected by this first wave. Control concerns, among other things, governance, public contracts, the use of fuel and lubricants, mission expenses inside or outside the country, travel expenses, etc.

With our correspondent in Ouagadougou, Yaya Boudani

For this first wave, 120 listeners are mobilized. The audit concerns the Presidency of Faso, the Prime Minister, the National Assembly and six ministries including those of Infrastructure, Mines and Quarries, Finance, Defense and Security.

We have therefore completed the preparatory work with regard to Defense and Security. We are preparing, with the teams, to consider work in the field. This concerns areas that we have identified such as the question of public contracts, the question of missions, fuel, lubricants. These are materials that come back. Next to it, at the army level, we have other auditable areas that we have also identified », indicates Philippe Neri Kouthon Nion, Comptroller General.

According to Philippe Neri, this audit is not a witch hunt, but a control process to identify malfunctions and suggest good management practices. However, in the event of a finding of a major irregularity constituting a criminal offence, the file will be transmitted to the prosecutor.

We identify the offense, we document and we produce preliminary investigation reports for the prosecutor who, in view of the regulations, is therefore obliged to follow up “, adds the Comptroller General.

Alongside the audit of the public administration, the supreme control authority has started a process of research on movable and immovable assets, presumed to be ill-gotten, in Burkina Faso and abroad. Several people have already received summonses to this effect.
