A psychologist and his company have been sentenced to pay nearly two million kroner in damages to Region Skåne. But the goal will be tried again, Sydsvenskan reports.
The company had been hired since 2017 to perform cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on patients in the region, but according to the verdict, the company has not completed its mission.
In 2021, Region Skåne began to suspect that everything was not right. An examination carried out by a licensed psychologist and a specialist doctor in psychology confirmed the suspicions.
According to their investigation, the company did not offer CBT at all. Instead, the patients received, among other things, coaching, mental training and support calls. The company also made recommendations about, for example, stretching exercises and dietary habits.
The record-keeping also allegedly had shortcomings and according to the investigation, the company charged the region for more visits than other healthcare providers do.
Since the owner of the company did not come in with a claim, the district court ruled in Region Skåne’s favor. Now he has requested that the case be taken up again.
– They say that my technicians are not CBT and that is a shock to me, the man tells the newspaper.
In a few weeks, the case will be taken up again by the court.
