Psychologist asked patient to fantasize about raping

A private psychologist who conducts psychotherapy on behalf of Region Uppsala receives harsh criticism in an audit report.

A young patient who had previously been subjected to violence was asked by the psychologist to look at nude pictures, partly on the psychologist’s computer and partly at home, according to the report which News24 took part in.

The patient would also, on the psychologist’s advice, imagine carrying out a rape on a named person and write down the process in first-person form. Region Uppsala is now being asked to terminate the agreement with the psychologist’s company.

“It is a very serious thing to ask a young, intellectually disabled person to imagine raping someone. In particular, as there is great anxiety associated with sexuality in this patient,” says the report section on the treatment of the young patient.

In addition to that, the review report, which was made by a specialist in the industry, shows shortcomings in, among other things, record keeping. The psychologist has also charged the region for visits where patients did not show up or canceled appointments. The region is asked to consider whether to report the incident to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo).
