UTRECHT – Boys and men must play an important role in tackling street harassment in Utrecht. Half of all Utrecht residents experience street intimidation at some point. 57 percent of them are women. Men are often the perpetrators of this behaviour, notes mayor Sharon Dijksma. “Of course this does not mean that all men on the street intimidate women, but it does mean that they are an important link in the fight against street harassment.” A new campaign will therefore start tomorrow.
