PSG is bubbling again – the club terminated the contract

Christophe Galtieri’s two-year contract would have had one more season left. The French coach is accused of discrimination at his previous club OGC Nice.

Paris Saint-Germain confirms that it has fired the head coach by Christophe Galtier contract, the club informs on its website.

According to the release, the club wants to emphasize professionalism and commitment in what it does. Galtieri, 56, who was hired a year ago, would have had one more season left on his contract.

Galtieri’s only remaining head coaching season ended with the team’s 11th Ligue 1 championship. Despite the victory, Galtier failed to improve PSG’s stock in the Champions League, where the team suffered an embarrassing defeat in the quarter-finals for the second consecutive season.

In addition, there has been a storm under the surface.

Galtier was arrested at the end of June in Nice and has been charged with discrimination at his former club, Nice’s premier league team OGC Nice.

In April, Galtieri was accused of making racist, offensive and discriminatory comments towards players while serving as head coach of OGC Nice in the 2021-2022 season. In his lawyer’s statement, Galtier denied the accusations “as strongly as possible”.

If Galtier is found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros, reported The Athletic. Galtieri’s trial is expected to begin next December.

At the same time, Galtieri’s assistant coaches will leave the team Thierry Oleksiak and João Sacramento.

The Athletic also reports in its news that PSG is about to appoint a new head coach on Wednesday Luis Enrique’swho most recently coached the Spanish men’s national team.

Former top player Enrique successfully coached Barcelona in the 2014-2017 seasons, but the previous spell as coach of the Spanish national team did not bring great achievements.
