PS5 VRR Variable Refresh Rate support update announced

Sony announced that it will release the PS5 VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support update this week, and made a statement about the details.

Sony, PS5 VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) announced that it will roll out the feature to players all over the world this week. This feature avoids problems such as frame rate problems and screen tearing.

What is PS5 VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and what does it do?

PS5 VRR allows the screen to dynamically synchronize the refresh rate of the screen with the graphics output of the console on TVs and monitors with HDMI 2.1 VRR support. This improves the visual performance of games by minimizing or completely eliminating visual flaws such as frame rate issues and screen tearing. In this way, many games become more fluid.

It has also been announced that some of the PS5 games released may be fully optimized for VRR through the update, and that it may have this support for the next released games from the day it is released. Some games currently support PS5 VRR support.

PS5 VRR supported games are as follows:

  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • deathloop
  • Destiny 2
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • DIRT 5
  • godfall
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  • Tribes of Midgard

It has been announced by Sony that there will be an update to your console in the next few days and you can download the update that will be released all over the world. After installing the update, when you connect your PS5 console to HDMI 2.1 VRR compatible monitors and TVs, it will be automatically enabled for VRR supported games. You can also turn it on or off in system settings.

It is also said that you can choose to use VRR support in unsupported games. However, this situation can increase the quality as well as lead to unexpected visual effects. If you encounter such a situation, you will be able to turn this option off at any time.
