Black Myth: Wukong has received a special patch for PS5 Pro. Significant changes have also been made to the base PS5 code, with image quality and performance improvements.
Black Myth: WukongReleased in 2024, it broke sales records and attracted attention with its impressive visuals. However, PS5 users complained about technical issues such as frame rate locks and low resolution. Developer Game Science has released a new patch to address these issues. While the game with PS5 Pro support offers a clearer image with PSSR technology, noticeable improvements have also been made in the basic PS5 version.
Black Myth: Wukong Experience on PS5 Pro
With the new patch, Black Myth: Wukong on PS5 Pro offers a near 4K image from 1296p resolution, thanks to PSSR technology. This improvement provides a clearer image, especially during movement. There are also some improvements to shadows and Lumen lighting technology. In terms of performance, quality mode offers stable gameplay at 30 FPS lock, while balance mode provides a targeted experience of 40 FPS.
One of the most notable innovations for PS5 users is the sharpness setting added to the game. Players can now adjust the image sharpness to the level they want. Performance mode continues to offer 60 FPS targeted gameplay at 1080p resolution, but frame-gen technology is still active. This technology can cause input lag in fast action scenes.
In quality mode, the resolution has been reduced from 1440p to 1080p, but visual improvements have been made such as higher quality shadows and increased vegetation shooting distance. The frame rate is fixed at a stable 30 FPS. Balance mode can be played with a target of 45 FPS, but a smoother experience fixed at 40 FPS is offered for players with 120Hz screens.
Although Game Science brings significant improvements to the game with this patch, players demand a 60 FPS mode independent of frame generation technology. The developer team is expected to take more steps in this regard in the future.
