PS5 player wants Sony to fire employee for daring to enjoy Starfield

A Sony employee is clearly enjoying Starfield – much to the chagrin of a player who then calls for her to be fired.

Starfield offers countless planets, but limits players’ discovery. Instead of running to a location independently or flying in a spaceship, players rely on fast travel.

However, one player wanted to find out what exactly happens when you travel to a planet independently. The explorer flew 7 hours to Pluto and streamed her expedition live on Twitch. Meanwhile, she was clearly having fun and enjoying Bethesda’s role-playing game – but one Twitter user didn’t like the explorer’s joy and even called for her dismissal.

The “problem”: The player is Alanah Pearce, who works as a writer for Sony’s Santa Monica Studio – the development studio behind God of War. Pearce was also involved in the latest spin-off “God of War: Ragnarök” as a member of the writing team.

What exactly does the player say? The Twitter user demands: “Alanah Pearce should be fired for promoting Xbox games on a public platform like this.”

The user also added that Pearce’s behavior was “extremely unprofessional” and showed a “lack of loyalty and seriousness towards her employer, PlayStation.”

Additionally, he tagged the Twitter accounts of Herman Hulst (Head of PlayStations Studios) and Cory Barlog (Creative Director of Santa Monica Studio)

While the post itself didn’t exactly receive any approval, it still received a lot of attention and was viewed over 70,000 times on Twitter. In the comments, the user is contradicted primarily by other users.

One user joked in the comments: “I declare that all Coca-Cola Company employees who drink water should be fired. This is extremely unprofessional and shows a lack of loyalty and seriousness towards the brand.”

Employee explains that she loves her job and has a lot of friends at Xbox, Bethesda and Nintendo

How did Pearce respond to the demand? Alanah Pearce addressed the Twitter user’s post in a video on YouTube, saying she loves her work at Santa Monica Studio. Nevertheless, she has friends who work at Bethesda, Xbox or Nintendo. That is also completely normal.

Pearce adds that there is no “console war” within the gaming industry and that some of her colleagues have already worked for Xbox studios.

So when a big game comes out that everyone is excited about, Pearce says the entire gaming industry is excited too. You’re happy for the next big step in game development and you’re happy for your friends who work at another studio because they’ve created something cool.

Calling for Alanah Pearce to be fired isn’t the first questionable action from PlayStation fans related to Starfield:
