PS5 and Switch players are part of Xbox

In his tenure at Xbox, Phil Spencer welcomes PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch players as a component of the expanding Xbox community.

Speaking to Famitsu upon the successful completion of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox leader Spencer stated that he sees the users of this platform as a part of the Xbox family, as this development will enable more Xbox games to be included on platforms such as PS5 and Nintendo Switch. did.

Phil Spencer: “PS5 and Switch players are part of Xbox”

Spencer stated that the users of games such as Redfall and Starfield, which are offered by Xbox and can be played on ROG Ally and Steam Deck, are viewed in the same way, and since they now control games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Overwatch 2 developed by Activision Blizzard, this idea is shared by PS5 and Nintendo. He added that it has expanded it to Switch gamers as well.

With the acquisition finalized last month after 20 months of litigation and uncertainty, Xbox now retains full control of Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo, World of Warcraft and other major franchises.

These new statements by Spencer are the latest in a chain of statements about bringing games that we expect to remain exclusive to their own systems, such as Xbox Series X/S, to a wider range of platforms. Knowing that Xbox made a massive 10-year deal to offer Call of Duty games on Nintendo systems earlier in the year, Spencer’s view of bringing the wider gamer base into the Xbox family comes as little surprise.

However, despite the completion of the acquisition, due to the legal processes taking longer, a new Activision Blizzard game will not be added to the Xbox Game Pass service this year.
