(Tiper Stock Exchange) – Prysmiana company listed on Euronext Milan and active in the energy and telecommunications cable systems sector, was awarded a contract worth over 800 million euros for a new interconnection for power transmission between France and Spain. The connection will be built on behalf of INELFE, a joint venture 50% owned by the Spanish grid operator Red Eléctrica and the French operator Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE).
Subject to receipt of the Notice to Proceed, expected by May 2023, Prysmian Group will responsible for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of two 400 kV single core high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables with XLPE insulation and fiber optic cable for telecommunications and monitoring, which will connect the Cubnezais substation (France) to the Gatika substation (Spain), crossing both the submarine and the land sections.
Submarine cables will be products in the Prysmian Group’s centers of excellence in Pikkala (Finland) e Arco Felice (Italy), while the underground cables will be built in Gron and Montereau (France). The fiber optic cables will be produced in Nordenham (Germany) and Santander (Spain). Testing of the entire project is expected by 2028.
