The WC series in speedway had moved on to Målilla for the ninth and penultimate competition.
Home jumper Fredrik Lindgren has mixed and given during the season and was ahead of Saturday in eighth place in the summary.
But on the Småland speedway oval, he offered a nice drive. Lindgren made it to the semi-finals and once there he finished second and advanced to the final.
The Swede sniffed the final victory but ended up second and says afterwards that he is incredibly proud of his performance.
— I’ve had such incredibly tough months behind me and haven’t been able to perform well in the WC and in the league lately. So great to be able to prove to myself and everyone here at home that I can still drive speedway. Stepping onto the podium is incredibly nice, he tells Discovery+.
No first place, but still a step towards finishing in the top six, which gives a direct WC place next season. Lindgren is now tied for sixth with Maciej Janowski, who was third in Målilla. of 92 points.
Bartosz Zmarzlik won his third WC title.
Polish Bartosz Zmarzlik, 27, won, who also secured his third world title. He has 148 points, which is an unassailable 30 points more than second place Leon Madsen.
— I am very happy to become world champion three times. I have dreamed of winning again and now I can do it. I am very happy, says Zmarzlik.
The WC series ends on October 1 in Torun, Poland.
