It is not only on the Oviken side of Storsjön that the concern about future mining is great. The area that is interesting for exploration companies also stretches across Storsjön towards Fåker and Hackås.
– We want to confront Olle in the gate and show clearly that we don’t want a mine here either, says Bengt Andersson, chairman of the Näs hometown association
In the late autumn, many residents received letters from Bergsstaten, which led to many coming together to show that they do not want to see mining in the area.
– For us, it came more or less as a surprise. And that it would be appealed within a certain date, says Bengt Andersson.
Great turnout
During Friday, 150-200 villagers and others involved gathered at Ica in Fåker for a protest march to Näs church. They oppose completely new test drilling in the Näs area and defend the right to a living settlement and safe drinking water in the lake Näkten, which is located next door.
The protest was arranged, among other things, by Näs home community association, villagers, Fåker sports club and Näs parish.
