The County Administrative Board in Gävleborg has decided on protective hunting of wolves in Bollnäs municipality, the authority writes in a press release.

This week, three wolf attacks on sheep have occurred close to each other, which is the basis for the county board’s decision. The protective hunt, which applies to a wolf in a limited area near Hällbo and Kilafors in Hälsingland, may be conducted until July 5 at the latest.

According to the county administrative board, the protective hunt is aimed at a specific wolf that is deemed to have attacked the sheep

“The county administrative board assesses that, in addition to protective hunting, there are no other suitable solutions to prevent more attacks on domestic animals in the area,” the authority writes, among other things.
