Since seven sheep had to be euthanized after a wolf attack in Österlen, the county administrative board states that a decision on protective hunting is underway in one of Scania’s wolf districts.

– We now have three attacks in the Linderöd area and will decide on protective hunting. If there is a fourth attack within the area, the protective hunt can begin immediately, wildlife officer Emelie Nilsson to Ystads Allehanda.

In the last attack, a wolf had been inside a sheepfold between Brösarp and Frörum. Seven out of ten animals were so injured that they had to be euthanized.

The protective hunt must be directed at the wolf that attacked, and therefore the ambition is to deploy dogs immediately after the next wolf attack, if there is one, she states.
