Four years ago, the long-running sitcom The Big Bang Theory aired its final episode. Since then, the prequel series Young Sheldon has filled the hearts of fans and ProSieben slots. The German The Big Bang Theory broadcaster also has the reruns of the series. A lot of repetitions. Replenishment is on the way now. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, among others, another TBBT spin-off is in the works.
What is known about the new The Big Bang Theory series
Information about the plot and characters has so far been scarce. Well-informed industry publication Variety writes that the series should be set at a time that allows guest appearances by veterans like Kaley Cuoco (Penny) – so it should be set in the present. This would set the project apart from Young Sheldon, which is set in the 1980s. In addition, the episodes of the new TBBT series should be one hour long and not 20 minutes like the successful sitcom. This would result in a completely different tone. However, The Big Bang Theory inventor Chuck Lorre will also be in charge of this series.
When is the new The Big Bang Theory series coming out and is it running on ProSieben?
A launch for the TBBT spin-off is not yet known. The series was announced as part of the makeover of Warner’s streaming service HBO Max, now just called Max. In the US, the series will run accordingly on Max. However, there is no German counterpart for Max Warner series such as Game of Thrones are often licensed to Sky/WOW in Germany. However, there is no fixed rule.
The German The Big Bang Theory platform is traditionally broadcaster ProSieben. Reruns of the main series and new seasons of Young Sheldon continue to run here. It is therefore very likely that ProSieben will also grab the new TBBT spin-off.
