The prosecutor is asking for twelve and 14 years in prison respectively for the two men charged with the attempted murder of four police officers.

According to the prosecutor, the men tried to kill the police officers by shooting from the passenger window at two police cars during a car chase in Östersund last August.

Östersunds-Posten and P4 Jämtland say that the prosecutor Emil Tiberg during the closing arguments at the trial, which concerned blue light sabotage, grossly illegal threats and attempted murder, asked for a long prison sentence this year.

The 19-year-old who held the weapon and admitted that he fired the shots should, according to the request, be sentenced to 14 years. The man denies any crime and says he shot into the air.

The prosecutor is asking for 12 years for the 24-year-old driver. The man believes that he had nothing to do with the shooting and therefore cannot be convicted of attempted murder.

None of the officers were injured. The verdict will be announced on April 26.
