A man who half-naked chased and wrestled a woman outdoors in Lycksele earlier this summer is now being prosecuted for attempted rape, writes Västerbottens-Kuriren.
According to the prosecutor, the woman must have met the man, who was then completely without clothes on his lower body, in a stairwell. When she tried to escape, he followed, wrestled her down on the asphalt and tried to tear off her clothes. The attempted rape was interrupted by a witness who was sitting in a car nearby.
– When he saw what the woman was exposed to, he went to the scene and pulled the man away from her by force. According to my statement, he would have completed the rape if the witness had not intervened, prosecutor Andreas Nyberg told the newspaper.
Prior to this, the man must also have sexually harassed two women, for which he is also charged. According to the indictment, the man was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The district court has decided that he will undergo a small mental examination.
