The location looks bright for mountain foxes in the steak area, in Jämtland and Västerbotten counties. Cause: There is plenty of food.
– They have it quite favorable up there now, because it is becoming a lame year, says nature guard Dan Persson to SVT News Jämtland.
The last time it was a real Lämelår in the Stekenjo area was 2011.
When Dan Persson checked the area a few days ago, where there are several shelters, he saw five mountain foxes.
– They were out running, it was good activity.
Fjällräven has long been threatened with extinction, but the situation has been improved thanks to support feeding. Last year, some 70 hills were born in Norrbotten, Västerbotten and Jämtland.
