    Several batches of microwaveable popcorn are currently subject to a product recall across France. At issue: exceeding the authorized limit of a pesticide. Here is important information about the affected lots.

    Vigilance for popcorn lovers. According to the government site Rappel Conso, batches of “McEnnedy” brand popcorn, marketed in Lidl supermarkets, have been removed from the shelves as a precaution.

    Defective microwaveable popcorn

    Marketed until April 28, 2023, this batch of salted popcorn contains a pesticide (Chlorpyrifos) whose content exceeds the authorized limit:

    Two other batches of popcorn marketed throughout France are affected by a product recall. This time it’s sweet popcorn:

    • Product Brand Name: McEnnedy;
    • Model names or references: Popcorn butter Sweet popcorn;
    • Batch: 22349 and 22331;
    • Date of minimum durability: 16/12/2024 and 28/11/2024;
    • Packaging: Cardboard box;
    • Marketing start/end date: 04/28/2023;
    • Storage temperature: Product to be stored at room temperature;
    • Geographical area of ​​sale: entire France;
    • Distributors: Lidl supermarkets.

    What to do if you have one of the offending lots?

    Also according to Rappel Conso, the many incriminated batches have a high content of Chlorpyrifos, a pesticide often used in fruit, vegetable and cereal fields. Currently, investigations are being carried out due to the detection of this pesticide. This is why, for health reasons, these products have been removed from the shelves as a precaution. However, if you have any of these lots mentioned above, it is strongly recommended that you do not consume it.
