Probably the best action film from cult director Guy Ritchie

Cult director Guy Ritchie has worked with Jason Statham on several films such as Jack Queen King GrAs, Revolver and most recently Operation Fortune. Their best collaboration is the action hit Cash Truck, for which the director renounced his typical sense of humour and pulls up a straightforward genre ripper. ProSieben shows the intensive revenge trip on Sunday evening at 10:35 p.m. as a German free TV premiere.

Cash Truck inspires as an action and thriller mix by Guy Ritchie

In the story of the film, which is a remake of the 2004 French film Cash Truck, Statham plays the secretive secretive employee of a security company. As a newcomer to the job, his job is to protect vans laden with cash from robberies in Los Angeles. When he brutally eliminates the attackers during a criminal action, his own slowly comes dark past to the light.

Jason Statham is cast in this deadly serious blend of 70’s thriller and action. The opening sequence, which is reminiscent of Michael Mann’s genre milestone Heat, sets the tone for the two-hour revenge campaign in which Ritchie keeps jumping through time.

It’s the director’s only striking staging trick, which otherwise stages a no-frills, violent thriller without any humor at all. Statham, who has increasingly relied on self-irony over the years, also plays his protagonist so grim and merciless as not for a long time. Together the director and the main actors have created what is arguably the best action film of Guy Ritchie’s career.
