Extensive demonstrations in support of Palestinians were carried out in London, among others, on Saturday.

“Free Palestine” and “End Israel’s occupation,” read some of the banners as Palestinian flags flew during the march. The protests turned against Israel and mainly the ongoing military offensive against Gaza after the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on October 7.

The demonstrations are being carried out during the weekend when Britain honors those Britons who have died in war. The choice of timing for the protest march has caused intense debate in Britain.

Police announced before the marches that the security effort has increased as they want to be sure that the peaceful demonstrations do not degenerate into violence.

Counter-protesters, mainly from groups belonging to the extreme right in Britain, clashed with police during the afternoon.

The London police arrested over 80 people in connection with the protests. Those arrested were suspected of trying to disrupt the peaceful march.
