In China, professional League of Legends players don’t have it easy. The competition is fierce, the pressure even greater. A young top laner, Qi “PandaC” Xin (19), made the leap to the pros because his predecessor was replaced: But the pressure was too much for the young man. After a loss, he wanted to buy himself something to eat… Big mistake.
This is the situation:
A month ago, PandaC got a chance to help LNG to a good playoff place after all. Midway through the season, 21-year-old top laner Ale was benched. LNG had apparently identified this as a weak point. The team put PandaC in the starting line-up.

LoL rookie thrown into playoff race, collapses
what went wrong As a Chinese website reports (via LaiTimes), the pressure of playing on a pro team was just too much for PandaC.
In videos, you can see the player sweating and even crying during his last pro match, against Team Rare Atom. It is said that after a match his match place was full of handkerchiefs.
The situation is getting worse and worse, because the season in China is currently in the hot phase and for LNG it’s about snagging a good playoff spot. But nothing is going right.
In an important match against the actually inferior team “Rare Atom”, PandaC was now criticized for his choice of champion: The match was lost 2-1.
Now, fans are afraid that he will go under completely in the important match against Weibo Gaming on Friday the 12th. Because there plays with “TheShy” one of the best top laners in the world.
Esports in LoL is stressful, but it can also be a lot of fun:
What’s more? A few weeks ago, at the end of July, PandaC’s team played against V5 and lost the game 0-2. After the match, PandaC wanted to get something to eat in a supermarket. But the cashier recognized him and said:
“PandaC, you didn’t do well today.”
According to his colleague, the top laner Ale, whom he ousted, the PandaC really took off (via youtube):
He is now afraid to shop in the store. If he has to, he peeks through the window first. He wants to make sure the cashier isn’t in the store. When he’s not there, he goes shopping.

Ale feels a good deal of the blame for the situation lies with himself. If he hadn’t played so badly, poor PandaC wouldn’t be in this situation now. Especially on the top lane there is enormous pressure in a LoL match.
Ale says: PandaC was born in 2003, almost a child. He urges fans not to bother him. PandaC has hardly laughed since the game against V5. Only when he eats his favorite food, a beef stew, does a smile cross his face from time to time. But otherwise he seems unmotivated.
One can only wish the young PandaC that he finds a way to cope with the pressure that is on him. The match that will determine if LNG makes it to the playoffs with a good spot will be on Friday 12th August.
Team makes the playoffs – but without PandaC
update, 12.8. 2022: The last game of the regular season has now been played. LNG clearly won 2-0 against Weibo Gaming. The win pushed LNG Esports to 7th place and secured a playoff spot (via reddit).
However, Ale was now playing in the top lane again. PandaC was not used.
Ale was able to hold his own against the strong top laner from Weibo Gaming TheShy, and was even voted MVP in the 1st match on Olaf with 3-0-2.
Some believe that the “top lane” is a very special role in LoL:
